Dr Surya Kakkilaya

Dr Kakkilaya has extensive experience working across a range of mental health services, including acute inpatient settings, community teams, forensic hospitals, and rehabilitation units. He also has expertise in liaison psychiatry and in the management of complex chronic conditions, including those within the field of neuropsychiatry.

He has been a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2004 and is an Approved Clinician as defined under the Mental Health Act.

Dr Kakkilaya has been involved in teaching international medical graduates for over 15 years and has trained junior doctors in preparation for the MRCPsych examinations. He has also contributed to research and service development projects.

He is a strong advocate for patient and carer involvement in the delivery of person-centred care and demonstrates excellent multidisciplinary teamworking skills, promoting collaboration across all disciplines to ensure efficient, integrated care.
