ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA - ADHD

Due to high demand, we can currently only accept ADHD referrals from practices that take part in shared care. This does not apply to NHS Essex ICB, covered by our GP federation agreement. Titration carries a mandatory 10-week wait under the NHS contract.

REFERRAL CRITERIA

We can accept

  • Patient's ages 18 or over, registered with a GP practice in England

  • Referrals for adult ADHD assessment, or adult autism (ASD) assessment

  • Patient's whose ICB funds the Right to Choose pathway

  • ADHD: practices that participate in shared care, or any practice in Essex ICB.

We cannot accept

  • Patients under 18. If they're under 18 and want private care send them to JM Mental Health, part of Atrom Mindcare.

  • Patients with an established learning disability (autism pathway)

  • Patients currently in crisis or requiring urgent psychiatric care

  • Self-referrals - a GP referral is required under Right to Choose

HOW TO REFER

1

Ask the patient to complete screening
ASRS for ADHD, AQ-10 for autism. The patient can complete either online and download the result to bring to their appointment with you.

2

Use the online referral form(s)
This is our preferred route - it captures everything we need and reaches the right pathway team immediately. They're available on the
ADHD and autism Right to Choose pages.
If you are based within Essex ICB, then you can refer using the NHS e-Referral system.

3

Or email the Word form
Send it from an NHS email address to the pathway address listed on the ADHD and autism pages. Referrals from non-NHS addresses cannot be accepted. You can find the forms at the bottom of the
ADHD and autism Right to Choose pages.

4

We confirm and contact the patient
We check eligibility and funding, then contact the patient directly to arrange their assessment. You do not need to chase us.

5

Report back to you
A full diagnostic report and care or support plan is sent to you and the patient within 4-6 weeks of the assessment completing.

Patient name, date of birth and NHS number
