A specialist evaluation to work out whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), under ICD-11 and DSM-5. It involves structured clinical interviews, standardised observation, a look at your developmental history, and expert interpretation from our multidisciplinary team.We take the time to understand your experiences and behaviour across different environments and stages of life.

Adults aged 18 and over who want clarity on whether they may be autistic, and who've been referred by their GP. This includes referrals made under the NHS Right to Choose framework.

Complete the AQ-10 autism screening questionnaire.Discuss your score with your GP.Your GP submits a formal referral for an Adult Autism Assessment to Atrom Mindcare, including your AQ-10 score.Once we receive the referral, we'll contact you with next steps.

An NHS policy that lets you choose where your assessment is carried out. If your GP agrees an Adult Autism Assessment is appropriate, you can ask them to refer you to Atrom Mindcare instead of your local NHS service. This gives you more choice over where you're seen.

No. Your GP stays responsible for your overall care, before and after the assessment. Atrom Mindcare provides the diagnostic assessment and shares the outcome with your GP.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition. That means traits are present from early childhood, even if nobody recognised them at the time. Input from someone who's known you since childhood helps us see how those traits have shown up across your life. If that information isn't available, we can still go ahead, but it may limit how conclusive our assessment can be in some cases.

Two weeks from when you receive them. If they're not back in time, we'll send reminders; continued non-return may lead to your referral being closed.

A short 30-minute call, booked in advance but only used if needed, for example if our multidisciplinary team needs to review your assessment before confirming the outcome.

If the Clinical Psychologist and Consultant Psychiatrist agree on the outcome, your Consultant Psychiatrist will usually share this with you during your assessment appointment. If there's any uncertainty or disagreement, your case goes to our multidisciplinary team, and we share the final outcome with you on the conclusion call.

Not receiving a diagnosis doesn't mean your difficulties aren't real. Autism traits can overlap with other psychological or neurodevelopmental conditions, and where it's helpful, we'll still give you recommendations and guidance.

No. Atrom Mindcare's autism service is diagnostic only. We don't provide ongoing therapy, treatment or care coordination. After diagnosis, your GP or local services remain responsible for your ongoing support.

Not returning required forms may lead to your referral being closed.If you don't attend an appointment, our Did Not Attend (DNA) policy applies.We review non-attendance case by case, and it may result in your referral being discharged and closed.You'll always be told before we close a referral.
